It’s that time of year again when we can take a moment to celebrate and think about all those hours people within our clubs spend volunteering for netball.  It’s been two years since the last Oxfordshire Awards Evening, but it’s back this year on the 18th May 2012, and it should be better than ever!
So much has happened in the last two years, and it’s all thanks to the volunteers working within Oxfordshire (with a little help from England Netball, the South & our NDO’s!).  It’s great to recognise all the people that allow us to play, and that develop the game, and now is the time to say thank you in an evening of celebration.
The event is to be held at the Witney Lakes Resort, Downs Road, Witney, on Friday 18th May 2012.  The cost is £20 per person for a evening meal, with wine on the table, the awards and a disco to dance the night away – til 12pm anyway!  It’s a 7pm start for drinks before a 7.30pm dinner.
But for now all you need to do is put pen to paper & fill in the nomination forms for the volunteers in your club who make a great contribution to netball – you have just over a month to get your nominations in!
The Awards:
- The Oxfordshire Club of the Year Award is presented to a netball club which has made an outstanding contribution within their community.
- The Oxfordshire Coach of the Year Award is presented to a volunteer coach who has made an outstanding contribution to getting more people engaging, growing and staying in netball through high quality coaching.

- The Oxfordshire Umpire of the Year Award is presented to a volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to officiating in netball.

-The Oxfordshire Netball Teacher Award is presented to a teacher who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of netball in primary and / or secondary school, outside of their statutory teaching responsibilities.

- The Oxfordshire Junior Unsung Hero Award is presented to a young person who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of netball through volunteering.

- The Oxfordshire Unsung Hero Award is presented to a volunteer that has made a notable contribution to netball in any capacity which may encompass any aspect of the game and its administration.

Hurrah! netball is being played this week!

But please be aware that there are road works with traffic lights at the bottom of Headley Way,  which are  causing queuing traffic along  Marsh Lane, past the Community Arena and over the bridge above the Ring Road. This evening  we had to wait for several cars for the 7.00 games. Traffic had cleared by the 8.30 games.
